Picking up your Wilderness motorhome

We will provide transfers from the Airport or your accommodation to our Wilderness Base. From here we will spend around an hour showing you how everything works in your motorhome. This is the point where several other companies tell you about the small print; the long list of things you aren't covered for, the roads you can't drive on the Road User Charges and credit card commission you need to fork out for. I promise you that when you arrive at our base and when you return to our base, there are no additional costs. Click here to compare with our competitors.

Airport Information

Auckland

Auckland International Airport is located approximately 20 kms from the city centre. Transfers from the airport to the city centre take approximately 30 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic. Central Auckland offers the widest range of accommodation.

Airport transfer costs to city (one way)

  • Taxi - approximately $40 - $70.
  • Airport Shuttle - a selection of companies offer shuttle services to/from the international airport. *cost
  • Air Bus operates a scheduled bus service from both the international and domestic terminals www.airbus.co.nz . Services run every 20 minutes and after 6pm every 30 minutes, and cost $15.

Christchurch

Christchurch International Airport is approximately 10 kilometres north west of the city centre, with a journey time of around 20 minutes.

Airport transfer costs (one way)

  • Taxi - approximately $25.
  • Airport Shuttle - a selection of companies offer shuttle services to/from the international airport. Some city hotels offer their own shuttle service on a request basis. *cost
  • Public Transport - buses to and from the airport operate regular timetables. www.metroinfo.org.nz

Accommodation

If you only require one night's accommodation before picking up your motorhome we suggest you stay at a nearby airport hotel or motor lodge. Most airport hotels and motels offer free courtesy transfers from the airport.

If you have planned to stay several nights in Auckland or Christchurch before picking up your motorhome we suggest you stay in the city centre, as this is where most of the activities are.
