Cook Strait Ferry Crossings in New Zealand

If you plan to travel between the North and South Islands in your motorhome you will need to book a Cook Strait ferry crossing.

Like many rental companies, Wilderness is an agent for the Interislander ferry. The only difference is - we do not charge horrendous 'admin fees' to book the ferry on your behalf and we will book you a fully transferable and refundable ticket. The Interislander

Ferries1.jpgNamed after the famous explorer Captain James Cook, the Cook Strait is a stunning ocean passage between Picton and downtown Wellington.

The Interislander has three ferries in its fleet and there are six journeys a day from Wellington and five from Picton. It takes about 3 hours and 10 minutes to cross the Cook Strait and the final hour is spend some meandering through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. At times you may find yourself questioning "are we meant to be that close to the land?"

Ferry Bookings

We recommend you book your ferry crossing well in advance as ferry services can get extremely congested, particularly during summer and school holidays. Wilderness Motorhomes is an accredited sales agent for the Interislander so we can book your crossing.
