What a great way to see NZ! The camper with a unique style all of its own. Our first time and it was so easy and enjoyable to use and live in for 5 weeks! Best bits? Cruise control and no rattling in the back! The vehicle was the envy of other tourer's! We dropped off to visit the Auckland base (passing by heading south) and were invited in for lunch with the team - thanks for sharing your lunch with us guys! Now that's the 'Wilderness Experience' for you in a nutshell!

The service was excellent and the van was very comfortable for the two of us. The van was cosy and warm thanks to the diesel heater and we slept very well in the bed every night. It was economical and easy to drive just like a car. One minor problem was fixed up immediately without disrupting our itinerary. The service was excellent. We would use Wilderness again without hesitation. Very highly recommended.

The cost of running the van was an amazing 12.6 cents (NZD) per km or 10L/100km. As a man who likes statistics, I was amazed to find that the total cost of the van (with full insurance cover), diesel and nightly motorhome park, cost us less than $300 (NZD) per day. When you go travelling, you don't want any drama's to spoil your precious holidays. So if you choose Wilderness Motorhomes you will have more time to be amazed by all the lakes, tunnels and snow peaked mountains and less time worrying about what is going wrong.

We'd never considered a campervan holiday before but are fairly well sold on the idea now. Hiring a campervan seemed to be the best way to see New Zealand and the fact is that the vans at Wilderness are beautifully fitted out - well equipped, spacious and very comfortable! Our experience with the staff at Wilderness was positive from the very first contact right through to dropping us back to our hotel in Auckland

We had such a fun time in the camper, we laughed all of the time and were able to do so much more than we anticipated. The camper was easy to use, amazing to drive and very economical on diesel (we over-budgeted a fair bit on that part!). It was so nice to end our day, snuggling up in the warmth of the camper! Our memories and experiences of our trip to NZ will last a lifetime!

As we toured around we got to talk to others in their motorhomes and came to realise how special ours was. Many only had buckets to drain their grey water into; we had a tank. We had extra batteries so we could keep clear of the recognised motorhome parks if we wanted to "go bush" which we regularly did. And that diesel heater - that's what really set BJ apart from the others. We found no one with this kind of wonderful heating (and you need it in May in South Island NZ let me tell you).

The second motorhome was perfect, easy to drive, even on the steepest, unsurfaced mountain roads, and with snow chains had we needed them, and just as happy on fast motorways. It drove so much like a car that we were even overtaking some cars on the mountain roads occasionally.

All in all a very pleasant experience and highly recommended. We had four weeks and were sad to have to give it back.

Amazing vehicle, only had 10,000km on the clock, everything brand new, immaculate condition and the drying room proved very useful. Top level service and great communication at all times (couldn't be more helpful). Will certainly be back for more!

Thoroughly enjoyed the vehicle and the quality of all its features and fittings. A lot of other campers we met were envious and only complained about their rental motorhomes (especially the high kilometers and leaky roofs). Our model was less than a year old and it drove like a car. It felt much roomier inside than its dimensions belied. Giving back the keys was like parting ways with your beloved home. Will definitely use them again when we come back to NZ. 10 out of 10.

We've just had the most fantastic three and a bit weeks in NZ in one of your motorhomes and I would like to thank all of you at Wilderness for making the trip an amazing experience. From pick up at Auckland to drop off in Christchurch the van was tip top. The Base Jumper is a good size van to drive (not too big or small) and was superbly equipped. Seriously comfy bed and well appointed cooking facilities made being in the van a pleasure even on rainy days. We liked having a van that was not covered in advertising and we both found driving it easy. Bonus points for the shower/drying room: we got soaked on the Queen Charlotte Trail but got all our stuff dry that night.

Simply put, an AWESOME experience with wilderness motorhomes. When we stumbled onto their website little did we know that we would be so satisfied with the experience.

The van rides beautifully on the open road, up and down and around steep mountain roads. It is fantastically equipped with everything you could possibly need including ceramic hand painted mugs and glass wineglasses. The gas BBQ was used most days. There is more than enough fridge and storage space for groceries as well as space for our belongings. Sleeping was extraordinarily comfortable and roomy even for a tall couple (6ft2in+).

After 24 days we were sorry to hand our camper back. We saw vans from lots of other companies during our trip and Wilderness are there with the best. Nice friendly welcome with everything ready to go, but no hassle. Van was easy to drive, powerful and economical (fuel is one-third UK price). They have a free library of CD/DVD/books and you take what you want. We thought NZ was great and had a wonderful holiday, Wilderness playing a large part in making it so.

The van heater and the water heater were excellent, and being able to direct the heater into the shower room to act as a 'Drying room' was a brilliant idea. The storage space is excellent; we even had spare cupboard space! The van drove just like a car; plenty of power and very manoeuvrable for those tight mountain turns on the south Island. We had one incident of a smashed window from a stone chip flung up by another car, and this was handled swiftly and efficiently by the Wilderness team.

The experience exceeded our expectations and we would thoroughly recommend Wilderness to anybody thinking of hiring a van in NZ. We covered 3000km in our 16 days and used a mix of commercial, DOC and freedom camping, with one exception they were all very good. One lasting memory will surely be freedom camping beside Katiki beach, with the waves in the background and the Milky Way above us. It doesn't get much better. Thanks folks for helping us to have a fantastic trip.
